TREATMENT RATING: This cancer protocol had a 93% cure rate on cancer patients who were "not too far gone" before they went to Dr. Kelley. Without going into details, what this means is that this protocol takes time to become effective. That is why this protocol is rated ONLY as being effective on newly diagnosed cancer patients who do not have a fast-growing cancer and their cancer has not spread significantly!!
If you are an advanced cancer patient who has had a lot of chemotherapy, radiation or surgery or you have a potentially fast-growing cancer, you are welcome to use this protocol as your "cancer diet" (in cases where pancreatic enzymes are allowed), but use one of the more potent and fast-acting protocols to treat your cancer. How It Works
Metabolic therapy is very similar to laetrile therapy, except that the focus in not on the laetrile molecule, but rather on two enzymes secreted by the pancreas: trypsin and especially chymotrypsin. Metabolic therapy also focuses heavily on building the immune system, but it adds a liver cleanse.
Metabolic Therapy
This is the treatment plan that had a well-documented 93% cure rate for about 33,000 patients, most of whom were terminal. Dr. Kelley said that if all of his patients did his protocol exactly as told, his cure rate would have been 97%.
I am not going to say much about this diet because it is somewhat complex. You will have to visit his website (link below) or read his book for the details.
The coffee enema is claimed to be critical to this diet, however, many people will not want to have the coffee enema. There are herb supplements to cleanse the liver (see the Jon Barron book), but I do not know if they are as effective as a coffee enema. Coffee enemas have been around for hundreds of years and are also part of the well-known Gerson Therapy.
A Dr. Gonzalez, working under an NIH grant, is doing research on the coffee enema. I do not know if Dr. Gonzalez is using the full Dr. Kelley protocol. Recently a gag order has been put on his research.
The developer of metabolic therapy, Dr. William Donald Kelley, a dentist by training, was severely persecuted by the medical establishment for his curing of cancer patients. The fact that he received so many referrals from his patients (as opposed to using advertising) is testimony of the effectiveness of his treatment protocol.
His first book: One Answer To Cancer, which is free and is on the web, was revised and improved and is now called: Cancer: Curing the Incurable Without Surgery, Chemotherapy, or Radiation.
His web site may contain information even newer than his book. There have been some new enzymes recently discovered, which may eclipse trypsin and chymotrypsin in effectiveness, but I do not known which enzymes he currently uses.
Note: Dr. William D. Kelley died on January 30, 2005. His Metabolic Nutrition Group is still active, however.

Remember that the Kelley diet relies heavily on the immune system being built up BEFORE the treatment becomes fully effective. This diet may not be suitable for advanced terminal patients. Dr. Kelley did not include in his statistics anyone who died within the first 12 to 18 months of when treatment began. Having said that, there may be new enzymes that have been discovered that make this treatment more effective on advanced cancer cases.
Dr. Kelley did not like people to mix other treatments with his.
